PAT Games

Our Mission

To give every primary school pupil the opportunity to represent their school at the PAT Games.

What are the PAT Games?

The PAT Games, planned and held across Pontefract Academies Trust, are competitions or festivals where schools earn points. Points are awarded for full squad attendance to an event, number of spirit of the games stickers and, where appropriate, finishing position. A trophy is then awarded to the school with the most overall points and the school with the most Spirit of the Games points at the end of each term.

Spirit of the Games

The PAT Games teach pupils essential life skills including determination, passion, respect, honesty, self-belief, teamwork, and developing skills. These skills form the core of our ‘Spirit of the Games’ values. During competitions and festivals, staff identify students who embody the 'Spirit of the Games' qualities and reward them with stickers.

Why should pupils get involved?

Participating in sports offers pupils much more than just a boost to physical and mental well-being. It provides an opportunity for pupils to represent their school, have fun, learn new skills, meet new people, build confidence, and much more.

PAT Games and the Community

The PAT games help to bring the community together to celebrate the love of community sport. We’re proud to collaborate with local businesses including A1 Football Factory, Pontefract Squash and Leisure Centre, and Pontefract RUFC to provide our students with access to fantastic facilities and coaching.
