Admission Appeals
Wakefield Council arranges our appeals and you can find the appeal form at School admission appeals - Wakefield Council.
For appeals, the following rules apply:
• You will receive at least 10 school days’ notice of the appeal hearing.
• The best time to send evidence is with your appeal form. If you are unable to do this, please send all evidence at least 7 school days before the hearing. If evidence is received after this time the Independent Appeals Panel will decide whether this evidence can be heard or not.
• Wherever possible a decision letter will be sent out to you within 5 school days of the hearing.
*School days are those days on which students are taught at the school. They do not include, for example, school holidays, inset days or weekends.
Full-Time Schooling
The admission body for Carleton Park is Pontefract Academies Trust. The Trust follows the Wakefield Council Admission Policy in managing admissions. Admission arrangements are administrated centrally by the Wakefield Council. For further information or to apply using the online application form, please click here to go to the council's website.
Full Time Place in Reception
For full time places in Reception, if your child turns 3 before 31st August, they will start full time education in the September of the next year. The online application system will open on the 1st November with the deadline in the following January. You can then log on to see your offer of a place in April before starting school in the September term. For example, a child who turned 3 before 31st August 2024 would apply for a full time school place online at Wakefield Council from 1st November 2024 to 15th January 2025. They would be offered a place on 16th April 2025 and start school in September 2025.
If you would like to query when your child is due to start school please contact the Admissions Team at Wakefield Council by emailing admissions@wakefield.gov.uk or you can call them before 12pm each day on 01924 306 052.
